What our strength classes involve

Every group strength class is led by a coach and kept to a small group, so you get the attention of personal training with the energy of training together. Classes are built around the big compound lifts, such as squats, deadlifts, presses and rows, backed up with accessory work to build muscle, balance and resilience.

We take a science-backed approach. Sessions follow a structured programme that builds week on week, so you are adding weight, reps or better technique over time instead of guessing in the gym.

Who strength training at Zone One is for

  • Complete beginners who want to learn to lift safely and with confidence

  • Regular gym-goers who have stalled and want structure

  • HYROX and sports athletes who need a stronger base to perform better

  • Anyone wanting to change their shape, as building muscle supports long-term fat loss

Plenty of our members had never properly set foot in a gym before joining. Our coaches teach every lift from the ground up and scale each session to you, so nobody gets left behind.

Looking for advanced strength classes?

Ready to take your lifting further? Our advanced strength group classes are technique-focused Olympic lifting blocks, covering the clean, snatch and jerk. Your coach will sharpen your positions, speed and timing so you can lift heavier with confidence. It’s ideal if you’re training for events like Turf Games and ATHX, or if you just want to master the most technical lifts in the gym. Limited to 12 people.

Why train strength in a small group?

Big gym classes rarely have time to check your technique, and training alone makes it hard to know if you are doing things right. Small group personal training bridges that gap. With 6 to 12 people per coached session, a coach can watch your lifts, correct your form and tell you when it is time to add weight.

You also get something a solo gym membership cannot give you: a community. Training with the same faces each week keeps you accountable, and it makes the hard sessions far more enjoyable.
